Host a series of hands-on workshops for your students, and they'll take what they have learned and perform it onstage with Dancing Drum. Workshop-to-Performance (W2P) programs function like a condensed Artist-in-Residency. During a 1- or 2-day W2P, participating classes attend 45-60 minute Dancing Drum workshops where they learn to play drums in an ensemble format. At the conclusion of the program, Dancing Drum will direct an exciting Interactive Performance for the entire school, featuring the classes performing what they learned during the workshops.
W2P programs can focus on "Drumming Up Character", "Drumming Up World Music" or the music of West Africa. (Grades K-12)
A 1-Day W2P program usually involves 4-5 classes participating in workshops and 1-2 assembly programs at the end of the school day. The performances feature the workshop classes, and the entire student body attends the shows. (120-150 students in workshop, up to 700 students in assembly)
A 2-Day W2P program usually involves 9-10 classes participating in workshops and 2-3 assembly programs at the end of the second school day. The performances feature the workshop classes, and the entire student body attends the shows. (270-300 students in workshop, up to 1050 students in assembly)
All W2P programs are custom-tailored to the specific needs and goals of each school. Our whole school was buzzing with excitement while you were here and after you left. You were very organized and well prepared to work with our students. We especially appreciate that you went the extra mile to customize each lesson to meet the unique needs of each group of students. That was crucial to the success of the program. We are certain that our students will not forget their Dancing Drum experience!"
