Bomba is a style of social drumming and dance with deep roots in Afro-Latino cultural tradition. It combines drumming with dancing, singing, and, in some cases, a masquerade. The Bomba dancer challenges the drummer, and the drummer tries to follow the dancer’s quick movements of feet, hips, and hands.
For this arrangement, Dancing Drum created a djembe part based on the traditional subidor drum rhythm. We have also included parts for djun-djun (dundun) and cowbell. Two drum breaks - one short and one long - add syncopation and excitement to the ensemble piece.
This item includes streamable audio for djembe, djun-djun, and breaks, and a printable PDF with musical notation and cultural background information.
